Jimmy Butler of the Miami Heat was made fun of by the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night following their 111-88 rout of the Heat.
The Pelicans stated on X, “We’re simply a better team.”. The post made reference to Butler’s predictions that the Heat would win tonight’s game following their most recent matchup on February 23. In a later-deleted post, Pelicans forward Naji Marshall similarly made fun of Butler’s prior self-assurance.

In February, following the Heat’s 106-95 victory over the Pelicans, Butler expressed confidence in the team’s prospects going forward.

Reporters were informed by Butler, who was removed from the game during a brawl in the fourth quarter. He said,
“We’ll beat them the next time too,” “We’re just a better team. Our team is so ready for anything that anybody’s thrown at us. We’re so together, playing some incredible basketball. I don’t think it matters who we go up against right now. It’s that time of the year.”
The Heat’s home-court problems persisted as Butler led his club with 17 points in the defeat. At Kaseya Center, Miami has now dropped ten of its previous seventeen games.
Even after the loss, the attitude never died.
Jimmy Butler on the Pelicans responding from his comments last game:
“Came in here and stole one. But I’m gonna stick by what I said. We still the better team.”
