Three days before the 2024 NFL free agency period formally opens, Russell Wilson has already chosen his new team.
Adam Schefter of ESPN said just before midnight that Wilson will sign a free agent contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers. According to Schefter, Wilson will sign a modest one-year contract with Pittsburgh while receiving $38 million from the Denver Broncos after being released.

After two seasons, the Broncos cut Wilson and chose to accept dead cap charges totaling an NFL record $85 million. Following meetings with the New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers, Wilson made the decision to remain in the AFC.

Following the team’s defeat to the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card Round, head coach Mike Tomlin of the Steelers pledged to find a rival quarterback for starting quarterback Kenny Pickett. Pickett, a nine-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl winner, most definitely meets the criteria.
