Fans are taking notice of Norby Williamson’s firing from ESPN after nearly 40 years of employment because of his disagreement with football media darling Pat McAfee. At this time, the McAfee-Williamson battle had been raging for months; the first call-out occurred in January.
It seems like the feud has now reached a breaking point. Furthermore, the NY Post claims that Norby Williamson’s exit has settled the issue. This is the memo about Williamson that was distributed to ESPN employees:
Since its founding in 1979, ESPN has established itself as one of the leading sports news networks globally.
Despite being among the most well-known in the sports world, their social media presence has had difficulty keeping up with contemporary communication. However, they have made a number of commercial decisions that have caused their popularity to soar in recent years, such as signing the Pat McAfee Show.
Even though the Pat McAfee Show is owned by ESPN, McAfee’s allegations against some of the company’s top dogs have caused issues for a number of executives with the show.
Norby Williamson has been employed by ESPN for an astounding 39 years, although he only had two years left on his contract. ESPN opted to fire Williamson because he didn’t share the company’s “long-term” vision.
