At a press conference on Thursday, Rashee Rice, a wide receiver for the Chiefs, revealed that he was driving the Lamborghini involved in a hit-and-run last Saturday in Dallas.
In an interview with the police, the wide receiver acknowledged to being behind the wheel at the time of the collision, according to Rice’s lawyer, Royce West. As of Wednesday, no formal police report had been submitted. The wideout is “fully cooperating,” according to West, and police are still looking into Rice’s reason for leaving the scene.
Since the details are still unknown, Rice’s representative has not yet had any contact with the Chiefs, according to West.
Rashee Rice’s lawyer insists he didn’t flee the scene
The crash victims should come first, according to the lawyer, and it should be made clear that Rice didn’t flee the site in order to avoid capture or to avoid detection.
According to reports, a couple hurt in the collision has retained their own attorney while they weigh their options. Two cars struck their white Lexus SUV as they were making their way to a friend’s 50th birthday celebration.
The couple’s automobile spun across the highway and struck a wall, presumably because Rice was in one of those cars. According to reports, the pair is getting better at home following their hospital visit. The woman reportedly had numerous stitches in her eyelid due to a “significant laceration” above her left eye, as well as swelling and bruises to her right leg. It is reported that they both exhibit indications of a concussion. The lawyer said,
“Mr. Rice wants to make certain that it’s understood and appreciated that he’s going to do everything in his power to bring their life back to as normal as possible, in terms of injuries, in terms of property damage,” West said. “And make certain that he is responsible for helping them to get through that particular part of this. Don’t get us wrong, we understand that no one can help [the victims] get over the memories of being in an accident.”
In a statement he made on Monday, Rice expressed regret for his part in the incident without going into detail about what he was accountable for. Rice said,
“Today I met with Dallas PD investigators regarding Saturday’s accident,” “I take full responsibility for my part in this matter and will continue to cooperate with the necessary authorities. I sincerely apologize to everyone impacted in Saturday’s accident.”
