When the 2024 NBA Draft finally arrived, everything went as almost everyone had predicted. Following their first-round selection of Dalton Knecht, whom many saw as a great value, the Lakers selected Bronny James 55th overall to complete their draft.
As soon as Bronny declared his intention to enter the draft, everyone anticipated it. Now that he has the opportunity, he can play with his father, LeBron James, before the NBA icon retires in the upcoming seasons. LeBron is now going to protect Bronny as a teammate, as if he wasn’t already devoted enough to his family.

And off the court, he’s already begun to do so. On the day after Bronny was drafted, someone on social media noticed that LeBron had unfollowed NBA reporter Rachel Nichols on Instagram.

Only a few days prior, Nichols expressed on Undisputed that she doesn’t think Bronny will ever be a major player in the league. She did concede that she didn’t believe it would be “crazy” to try to develop him in the second round by taking a chance on him.
The Lakers have that as their exact plan. However, it’s obvious that LeBron has more expectations for his son than most people.
