Paige Spiranac Stands up for Caitlin Clark After Chennedy Carter Committed a Nasty Foul

Following a controversial foul that sent the Indiana Fever star hurtling towards the court, Paige Spiranac has expressed her support for Caitlin Clark.

Late in the third quarter, guard Chennedy Carter surprised Clark with a hip-check while she was waiting for an inbounds pass during a heated game against the Chicago Sky. Both players and spectators have given the incident a great deal of attention and discussion.

Spiranac condemned the foul and emphasized Clark’s contribution to the game on X (previously Twitter).

“Imagine bringing millions of new fans to the game which in turn will make every player more money and yet they treat you like this,”  “A rising tide lifts all boats.”

The Fever won the game by a slim margin of 71-70. Clark, 22, spoke about the event in an ESPN interview after the game. Clark said,

“Yeah, that’s just not a basketball play,”

“But you know, I’ve gotta play through it, that’s what basketball is about at this level.

“I thought we’ve been really physical, we’ve missed some bunnies around the rim, so hopefully, those fall in the fourth.”

Carter remained silent

At the postgame press conference, Carter, who finished with a game-high 19 points on 8 of 12 shooting, refused to address the foul in spite of the altercation, saying, “I ain’t answering no Caitlin Clark questions.”

Remarkably, former LSU standout Angel Reese, a rookie for Sky, stood up and cheered Carter’s performance from the bench.

Throughout the game, Clark finished with 11 points on 4 of 11 shots, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists.

With her outstanding collegiate experience at Iowa, where women’s basketball witnessed record-breaking TV numbers, she has greatly increased the WNBA’s profile.

Clark appears to be the focus of tougher play as a result of her greater visibility.
