In a recent interview, Travis Kelce disclosed that he came up with the idea for the entire surprise onstage appearance with Taylor Swift!
This week’s episode of “New Heights” had the Kansas City Chiefs player telling his brother, Jason, that during the “1989” segment of the popstar’s “Eras” tour, he first wanted to ride a bike. Nevertheless, Swift proposed a change of direction, adding a segment to her set titled “Tortured Poets Department,” following some worries that the large football player would unintentionally bump into other backing dancers.
Just before her performances in London last month, the two coordinated the plan, and on June 23, everything went off without a hitch.
Travis Kelce was worried about dropping Taylor Swift
As you’ve probably already noticed, Kelce revived Swift immediately before she sang “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” while looking dapper in a tuxedo. He continued by calling Jason’s experience “awesome.” Travis said,
“It was a blast, man,”. “I had so much fun. It was an honor being onstage.”
Though he was worried sick about dropping Swift as he carried her to the onstage sofa, Travis did admit he felt a little nervous being in front of the crowded stadium with his boo. He said,
“Listen,” , “the one thing I told myself is: ‘Do not drop the baby. Do not drop this — do not drop Taylor on your way over to this damn couch.'”
However, Kelce survived it all without any injuries, and Jason was ecstatic to hear that, telling his younger brother, “You guys killed it.” There’s been no news yet on whether an encore is planned, but if there is, it needs to happen soon.
