Tyreek Hill Is Unsure of the Actions the Police Would Have Taken if He Hadn’t Been “The Cheetah”

Hours before the Dolphins‘ season opener, star Tyreek Hill was taken into custody by Miami police, putting him in the center of attention. Tyreek Hill was stopped and subsequently released for a traffic infraction on his way to the stadium, according to the team’s official Twitter. Tyreek discussed the event and questioned what may have happened “if he wasn’t Tyreek Hill.”

Speaking in-depth with the media about the incident, Hill asserted that if it weren’t for his football career and his celebrity profile, the police’s handling of the incident would have been different:

“It’s hard man…I don’t want to bring race into it but sometimes gets kind of iffy when you do, so what if I wasn’t Tyreek Hill? Lord knows like what that guy or guys would have done.”

Tyreek Hill got freed and played the game

The standout wide receiver was freed in time for the pregame warm-up, and the event had no impact on his performance; in the game, he ran 80 yards to collect Tua’s ball and score a touchdown, giving him a classic Cheetah moment.

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill (10) runs onto the field during pregame ceremonies of an NFL game against the Las Vegas Raiders at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Nov. 19, 2023.

Being a key player in the team’s victory over the Jaguars, Hill caught seven passes for 130 yards and one touchdown. Several colleagues who were headed to the stadium witnessed Hill being pulled over when he was taken into custody. They came to see how he was doing and supported their comrade by opposing his arrest with the local police.

They received recognition for this from HC Mike McDaniel as well as Hill.
