When the Philadelphia Eagles met with President Trump on Monday to celebrate their victory in Super Bowl LIX, Jalen Hurts was one of several players who did not go to the White House.
A White House spokesman stated prior to the ceremony, which started just after 4 p.m., that Hurts and other Eagles players who were not present were unable to attend because of “scheduling conflicts.” On the South Lawn of the White House, Mr. Trump paid tribute to the Eagles.
When the Eagles won the 2018 Super Bowl, they did not go to the White House. Because of a disagreement over the national anthem, Mr. Trump called off the visit the day before.
Days after Hurts sidestepped a question about the impending visit at the Time 100 gala last week, it was announced that he would not be visiting the White House. A reporter at the event asked the MVP of Super Bowl LIX if he intended to visit the White House. “Ummm” was his response, and he didn’t address the question.

There were other notable Eagles who did not attend the White House visit besides Hurts. The majority of the team’s defense, including Zack Baun, Brandon Graham, Jalen Carter, Darius Slay, Quinyon Mitchell, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Nolan Smith, Jordan Davis, Nakobe Dean, Josh Sweat, and Jalyx Hunt, as well as wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, were not seen at the White House.
A significant portion of the Eagles’ roster didn’t seem to be present at the White House. Barkley and the Eagles’ front management, coaching staff, and players attended the White House ceremony on Monday.
Speaking at the ceremony were Lurie, “Big Dom” DiSandro, safety Reed Blankenship, right tackle Lane Johnson, and Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni.
