Caitlin Clark Teases Her Next Career Move

With the Fever star presently in the second, injury-plagued chapter of her career, Caitlin Clark‘s WNBA story is still being written.

It seems like Clark can still envision herself on the court, coaching rather than hooping, long after the ink dries and she permanently closes the record books. In a recent episode of the Bird’s Eye View podcast featuring Sue Bird, the second-year guard talked candidly about her difficult path to the NBA and validated fan speculation about her future prospects.

Clark stated: “Honestly, I might go back at one point in my life and coach college basketball,”. “Just because, looking back—obviously at the time that was all I knew. And then you get into the pros and it’s just like, ‘Why didn’t people guard me like this?'”

She would “be a really good [WNBA] ref,” according to Clark, though that seems much less likely. Going back to coach at her old mater, Iowa, where she originally shot to stardom and became the all-time top scorer in men’s and women’s NCAA Division I history, is Clark’s most obvious option.

The 23-year-old Clark, who broke numerous records in her debut season before reportedly experiencing a shooting slump in the middle of her second season in Indiana, still has her entire WNBA career ahead of her. Her 2024–25 season has been ruined by injuries; Clark has missed the last nine games and more than half of the regular season because of groin and quad strains.

Clark will undoubtedly leave an unparalleled legacy in women’s basketball, though.
