Olympic track star Christian Coleman is defending his girlfriend, Sha’Carri Richardson, after she was arrested for domestic abuse, even though he was the accused victim. Coleman calls the event a “sucky situation.”
Following Richardson’s detention on July 27, when his girlfriend was jailed for reportedly repeatedly pushing him at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Coleman, one of the world’s fastest sprinters, defended Richardson.
SR spent more than eighteen hours in jail after being accused with fourth-degree domestic violence.

Coleman told reporters following Sunday’s U.S. championships in Oregon: “For me personally, I feel like it was a sucky situation all around,”
“I don’t feel like she should have been arrested. People have emotions and stuff like that, and she has things she gotta work on for herself. So do I, so do you.”
“She’s the best female athlete in the world,”, “She gon’ be just fine. She gon’ be good. I’m gon’ be good. It is what it is.”
After police claimed to have video evidence of the alleged assault, Coleman, who finished sixth in the men’s 200-meter final on Sunday, claimed he attempted to negotiate with the airport police but was unable to stop the arrest. Coleman clearly still has his girl’s back after the arrest.
