On Tuesday, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders revealed that he intends to have a procedure to relieve pain in his left leg. It seems that the procedure will be minor, as Sanders expressed to reporters that he is optimistic about returning to work by Wednesday.
Fans noticed something was off with the Hall of Fame cornerback when he took off his left shoe while on the sideline during the Buffs’ 35-21 defeat to TCU.
In his postgame press conference, Sanders mentioned he was worried about possible clotting issues in his leg.
He shared with reporters:

Fans noticed something was off with the Hall of Fame cornerback when he took off his left shoe while on the sideline during the Buffs’ 35-21 defeat to TCU.
In his postgame press conference, Sanders mentioned he was worried about possible clotting issues in his leg.
“I believe I have more blood clots. The cat’s out of the bag now,” he informed reporters. “I think I have more blood clots. It doesn’t make any sense. I’m in a lot of pain. I have a doctor’s appointment on Monday. So that’s what’s happening. I’m not getting enough blood to my leg, which is why my leg is throbbing. I’m sorry to put it out there, but I appreciate you noticing.”
The 58-year-old stated that his clotting issues are hereditary. In 2021, doctors amputated two toes on his left foot, and ongoing complications led to considering the amputation of the entire foot in 2023.
Additional health issues forced Sanders to limit his daily participation at Colorado for some of this past offseason. He later disclosed that he had been diagnosed with bladder cancer before having his bladder surgically removed and being declared cancer-free.
Colorado’s next game is scheduled for Saturday at home against No. 22 Iowa State. Following that, the Buffs will have a week off before facing Utah on October 25. They currently hold a record of 2-4 and are 0-3 in Big 12 play thus far.
