Police have not confirmed a motive. They still cannot determine whether the gunman targeted Boyd or reacted to a spontaneous dispute. Detectives interviewed multiple witnesses, but they still need more information to identify the shooter. The department urged New Yorkers to contact Crime Stoppers with any tips.
The Jets acknowledged the shooting but chose not to issue details. Several teammates posted messages of support online and encouraged fans to pray for Boyd’s recovery. Coaches and team officials visited Boyd’s family at the hospital and offered assistance.
The investigation remains active, and police hope public recognition of the suspect’s images will lead to a swift arrest.
