Chicago Sky guard Hailey Van Lith offered a personal look into her offseason recovery, posting a photo on social media that highlighted the extent of an ankle injury that nagged her throughout her rookie WNBA season.
The photo, shared on her Instagram account, showed Van Lith on a beach in what appeared to be a stage of recovery following surgery to repair a persistent ankle issue. The image, which featured the guard in a bikini, prominently displayed a surgical scar and signs of the recent operation on her right ankle.
Van Lith, who was drafted 11th overall in 2025, dealt with the recurring injury, which she carried over from her collegiate career, throughout her first year in the WNBA. The injury led her to miss the final seven games of the Sky’s season.
The guard confirmed the operation on her social media channels in early October, posting a picture from the recovery process with the caption: “Not my will but His. Time to get the ankle right!”
The beach post serves as an update on her rehabilitation as the guard prepares to return for the 2026 WNBA season, which typically begins in May. Van Lith, known for her high-profile social media presence and prior work with Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, is focused on regaining full health after a challenging rookie campaign where she averaged 3.5 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 1.6 assists across 29 games.
