Lions fan Ryan Kennedy will, in the coming days, drag DK Metcalf to court because that was the play all along, it appears.
Football fans love drama, but this one might be headed to the courtroom instead of the highlight reel. A Lions fan named Ryan Kennedy is planning to sue Steelers receiver DK Metcalf after an alleged punching incident. Yes. Punching. Helmets off. Lawyers on deck.
Kennedy claims Metcalf punched him for calling him by his government name, but DK Metcalf also claims the fan used a racial slur and spoke bad about his mother.

“At no point before, during, or after the incident did Mr. Kennedy use racial slur or hate speech of any kind,” a statement provided to TMZ Sports said. “The claims suggesting otherwise are untrue and are not supported by video evidence, eyewitness accounts, or any contemporaneous reporting.”
Despite reports in the media last night and today, Mr. Kennedy has not used such language during any interaction with Mr. Metcalf or any other players in the past.”
The statement concluded by saying that, since “this matter will now likely be the subject of formal legal proceedings, Mr. Kennedy will not comment further at this time.”
This situation is wild because it blends sports, fandom, and lawsuits in one messy pile. It is not what the NFL wants trending. But here we are.

It seems the fan got what they wanted, a payday.
@robertlittalbso NFL doesn’t care what fans say to players. Sends a horrible message by suspending DK Metcalf
