Trey Songz Sues Kansas City Police Over 2021 Arrest At Chiefs Playoff Game

Trey Songz is back in the headlines, and this time it has nothing to do with music.

The R&B singer is suing the Kansas City Police Department over his arrest at a Chiefs playoff game. Yes, that Chiefs game. The AFC Championship matchup between the Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills in January 2021.

According to Trey Songz, things went very wrong very fast. He was at the stadium enjoying the game like everyone else, or at least trying to. Things reportedly escalated with security and police. Next thing you know, Trey was getting arrested, and the internet was watching.

Video of the incident quickly went viral. Fans replayed it like game film and now, he’s seeking legal revenge.

According to the lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, Trey claims he was at the AFC Championship Game between the Chiefs and Buffalo Bills in January 2021 and was in his seat at Arrowhead Stadium in Missouri when folks nearby started heckling him because of his celeb status.

Trey claims the verbal heckling escalated to threats and harassment, resulting in security and police being called to his seat … and we were first to obtain video of the police interaction.

Thing is … Trey claims when security guards and cops showed up, they failed to protect him from “unruly, aggressive, and intoxicated attendees” … and instead “physically assaulted, wrongfully arrested, handcuffed and detained” him in jail.

Trey says he was charged with trespassing, resisting arrest, and assaulting a police officer … all of which were ultimately dismissed.

What was Trey Songz waiting for all this years? I guess this is his right time to hit back!

In his suit, Trey claims he suffered physical injuries, emotional distress, damage to his professional reputation and financial losses as a result of the incident … and he claims KCPD used excessive force before wrongfully detaining and arresting him.

Trey is seeking unspecified damages.

Trey Songz has mostly stayed quiet about the details over the years. This lawsuit speaks for him now ans it sends a clear message that he is not letting it go.

Whether he wins or not is still up in the air. Lawsuits take time, evidence matters, witnesses matter and video matters.

One thing is clear though, that Chiefs versus Bills game from January 2021 just got a whole new chapter. And it has nothing to do with football.
