Dallas Mavericks guard Klay Thompson has removed every photo, video and mention of rapper Megan Thee Stallion from his Instagram account, completing a social media purge days after the couple’s high-profile breakup.
The move, noticed by fans Monday morning, came after Stallion publicly accused Thompson of cheating in a series of Instagram Stories on April 25 and confirmed the end of their nearly yearlong relationship. Thompson, 36, had faced a flood of critical comments on an old video of the pair that remained on his page until recently.
Stallion, 31, first signaled the split with a pointed message on her Instagram Stories that did not name Thompson but referenced “cheating,” “cold feet” and “horrible mood swings” during his basketball season. She wrote in part: “Holding you down through all your HORRIBLE mood swings and treatment towards me during your basketball season now you don’t know if you can be ‘monogamous’???? b*tch I need a REAL break after this one .. bye yall.”
She later told TMZ through a representative:
“Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there’s no real path forward. I’m taking this time to prioritize myself and move ahead with peace and clarity.”
The couple had been dating since summer 2025 and made their red-carpet debut in July at the Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala. They teased a major relationship step in October by purchasing a home together and frequently appeared together at events, including Thompson gifting Stallion a luxury car for her birthday.
Megan Thee Stallion had already scrubbed Thompson-related content from her own Instagram, including a birthday post thanking him. Fans immediately swarmed Thompson’s page after her April 25 posts, leaving thousands of comments on remaining images that featured the rapper. One July 2025 boat video drew particular attention, with users urging him to delete it.
Thompson has not commented publicly on the breakup or the social media cleanup.
The split has dominated social media, with fans debating the couple’s unusually low-key approach to publicizing their romance — they never followed each other on Instagram despite dating for months. Reactions have ranged from support for Stallion to criticism of Thompson, with some calling the end of the relationship “messy” given the public accusations.
