The NFL offseason just got a lot more interesting. Exclusive photos obtained by Page Six have thrust New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel and top NFL reporter Dianna Russini into the spotlight for something far removed from X’s and O’s: an apparent intimate getaway at a luxury adults-only resort in Sedona, Arizona.
The images, snapped around March 28, 2026, at the ultra-romantic Ambiente resort — a boutique “landscape hotel” perched against the stunning red rocks of the Brins Mesa mountain range — show Vrabel and Russini holding hands, hugging face-to-face on the rooftop of a private bungalow at sunset, and even briefly dancing. Additional shots capture them relaxing together in the hotel’s pool and hot tub after breakfast, spending roughly 90 minutes poolside on a Saturday morning.
Eyewitnesses told Page Six the pair appeared to be there without others in their immediate group, leaving the resort separately afterward. The setting couldn’t be more romantic: Ambiente markets itself as the ultimate couples’ escape, with glass-walled suites, fire-pit rooftops, and panoramic desert views.
Who are Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini?
Vrabel, 50, is the no-nonsense former Patriots linebacker turned head coach. He returned to New England in January 2025 and quickly guided the team to the Super Bowl this past season. He’s been married to Jen Vrabel since 1999 (they met at Ohio State) and the couple has two sons.
Russini, a veteran NFL insider, is Senior NFL Insider for The Athletic (part of The New York Times) and host of the “Scoop City” podcast. She’s covered the league for over a decade, including a stint as ESPN’s Titans beat reporter when Vrabel was head coach in Nashville starting in 2018. She’s been married to Shake Shack executive Kevin Goldschmidt since 2020 and they have two children.
The two have a long professional history. Russini has covered Vrabel’s teams closely and has publicly praised his coaching style in the past. NFL reporters and coaches routinely interact off the field — but the romantic backdrop and physical affection in these photos have fans raising eyebrows.
Their Response: “Completely Innocent”
When reached by Page Six, Vrabel shut down speculation:
“These photos show a completely innocent interaction and any suggestion otherwise is laughable. This doesn’t deserve any further response.”
Russini added context, saying the images don’t tell the full story:
“The photos don’t represent the group of six people who were hanging out during the day. Like most journalists in the NFL, reporters interact with sources away from stadiums and other venues.”
Her boss at The Athletic, executive editor Steven Ginsberg, backed her up, calling the photos “misleading and lack[ing] essential context” and emphasizing they were “public interactions in front of many people.”
Friends of both echoed the group narrative: Russini was allegedly on a hiking trip with two female pals, while Vrabel and a couple of buddies drove up from Phoenix for the day before heading back to their own hotel two hours away.
Still, at least one eyewitness pushed back, telling reporters, “No, he was with a girl.”
Social Media Reacts
The story broke Tuesday afternoon and X (formerly Twitter) exploded almost immediately. Fans are joking about “inside information” taking on a whole new meaning, with some Patriots supporters quipping “What happens in Sedona stays in Sedona.” Others are more skeptical, pointing out the adults-only romantic vibe of the resort and the intimate nature of the shots. Memes and side-by-side comparisons with their spouses have already started circulating.
What Now?
In the hyper-scrutinized world of the NFL, where coaches, players, and media personalities operate in a tight ecosystem, this story highlights how quickly personal moments can become public fodder — especially when the photos look this cozy. Whether it’s truly just two professionals grabbing a casual meet-up with friends or something more remains to be seen. But one thing’s for sure: the photos have everyone talking.
