NASCAR great Kyle Busch passed away following acute pneumonia that developed into sepsis. According to a family statement cited by the AP, Busch died “after severe pneumonia progressed into sepsis, resulting in rapid and overwhelming associated complications.”
Citing a news release from Dakota Hunter, VP of Kyle Busch Companies, the source claims the family underwent the medical evaluation on Saturday.
As we previously reported, Kyle passed away on Thursday following his hospitalization due to a serious illness. Kyle apparently lost consciousness on Wednesday while in a racing simulator in North Carolina before being transported to the hospital.
The patient at the NC training facility was “coughing up some blood” and appeared to be about to faint, according to audio from the 911 call that TMZ Sports was able to get.
Eleven days after Kyle radioed his crew to get a “shot” from a doctor after finishing a NASCAR Cup Series race, he passed away.
Kyle continued to compete despite his bad condition, winning a Truck Series race on May 15 and competing in the NASCAR All-Star Race on May 17—just four days before he passed away.
