Former New York Giants defensive end Josh Mauro‘s final hours have reportedly come into sharper focus following details from a Phoenix Police Department case report.

According to the report, Mauro allegedly used cocaine and spent time partying with several women, including a dancer, before his tragic death earlier this year.

The report paints a picture of a wild night that eventually turned into a heartbreaking story. Life can change quickly. One minute, someone is enjoying a night out, the next, everyone is asking what happened.

Mauro reportedly met the dancer around mid-April. That was about a week before his death. According to the police report, he later invited her, a friend, and two other women to his Arizona home during the early morning hours of April 23.

The night reportedly involved partying and drug use. The details have now become part of the investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mauro’s tragic death.

The woman told cops that once they got to Mauro’s residence, he and his friend began snorting cocaine while “all of them” started drinking tequila and listening to music, according to the report.

The dancer said to investigators that after a few hours, she and the other women went to an upstairs bedroom to sleep, while Mauro and his friend “continued to hang out downstairs.”

When she awoke, she said she discovered Mauro alone and apparently dead on the floor. She immediately called for emergency services and made attempts to revive him.

She “described Joshua as being happy and a sweetheart” prior to the incident, according to the report. She also “mentioned he was on a bender for 4 days,” and additionally stated she noticed Mauro “would get frequent nosebleeds and would sweat after snorting cocaine.”

The police report includes details about his activities shortly before he passed away. Those details are difficult to read. They also serve as a reminder that partying can sometimes come with serious consequences.

A bottle cap with a white substance in it, a white powdery substance near a rolled-up dollar bill, “an abundant number of tissues with apparent blood on them,” and a syringe in a trash can were all discovered near Mauro’s body, according to the report.

Following an autopsy, the Maricopa County Medical Examiner stated Mauro had traces of “fentanyl, cocaine, ethanol, and their metabolites as well as cannabinoids and caffeine” in his system, and his death was ruled an accidental overdose.

And while the latest details may grab attention, the bigger story is still the same. A former NFL player lost his life, leaving behind questions, memories, and people who will never forget him.
