Although retired defensive tackle Aaron Donald has not yet declared his intention to rejoin the Los Angeles Rams in 2026, there are a number of indications that he may do so.
According to the NFL’s transaction wire, Donald worked out with the Rams on Sunday. He is practicing with the squad for the second time this offseason.
Donald, a 2014 first-round choice who spent ten seasons with the Rams and earned three Defensive Player of the Year honors, hopes to be more than a supporting player when he returns this coming season. Although he hasn’t played since the 2023 season, the future Hall of Famer has undoubtedly maintained superb physical shape, but he still needs time to shake off the rust.
Following the team’s 20–12 preseason victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday, head coach Sean McVay did not state that was Donald’s target date. He didn’t even mention if the defender had informed him that he would be coming back.
Nevertheless, it seems that Donald and the Rams are hoping to make a comeback soon. If that weren’t the case, he wouldn’t be working out with the team.
Donald and new defensive end Myles Garrett, who was acquired in an offseason deal with the Cleveland Browns, will form one of the best pass-rushing duo in the league if Donald feels fully recovered for the forthcoming campaign. Donald is ranked 33rd in NFL history with 111 career sacks, while Garrett is tied for 20th place with 125.5 over nine seasons.
