Its not often that you see a professional athlete acknowledge that they are fans of other players in the same field. It’s even more unlikely that a veteran with Hall of Fame number shows his love for the young guy. Alex Rodriguez has no issues with expressing his love for Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper.
“I love everything about him. I like players that play hard. He wears his emotion on his sleeve, he’s a gamer and he’s a winner. As a fan of baseball, I would pay big money to watch him play especially to watch him hit.”
Some young baseball players have trouble adjusting to major league pitching but not Harper, which is something Rodriguez admires.
“He’s just so damn explosive. For me, growing up watching Darryl Strawberry and guys like that, when he comes to the plate, the stadium stopped. Same with Harper. If I’m a fan, not going to the concession stand when he comes to bat. I’m going to make sure to watch his four or five at-bats because he’s that type of talent.”
The Yankees are visiting the Nationals as part of a two-game series. Nationals won the opening game Tuesday night 8-6.
