Apparently Georgia didn’t have time to round up the team for a meeting to announce the news of Mark Richt’s demise.
Per the Dawgnation.com, a Georgia player spoke out and said the entire team received a mass text message delivering the news about Richt being out as the head coach.
Georgia players found out the news about Mark Richt just a few minutes before the rest of the world did.
It came via a mass text message from a team staffer, who was passing it along from Richt, according to a player. It said that the bowl game would be Richt’s last game.
“Then a few minutes later I saw the news blowing up on Twitter,” said the player, who did not wish to be quoted.
“He has all of our love and respect,” the player said. “We’re gonna play hard for him.”
Not sure what to make of a team staffer sending out a mass text message to the team to announce that a head coach is getting canned. You would think they would let the head coach himself announce that to the team rather than going that route.
