Looks like not EVERY NFL owner was against the national anthem protest. Miami Dolphins owner, Stephen Ross gave his players the ok to kneel.
Dolphins defensive back Michael Thomas spoke to Hal Habib of the Palm Beach Post and here’s what he said about that day,
“I remember that like it was yesterday,” Thomas said. “With everything racing through our minds, trying to decide if that was something we would actually go through with, of taking a knee, . . . September 11th — that’s a whole different aspect.
“I saw Mr. Ross come in the locker room. I’m going up to him, trying to explain to him in a way, letting him know, like, ‘Look, we’re thinking about doing this, thinking about taking a knee.’ And for him to stop me and say, ‘Look, Mike, whatever y’all choose to do today, I’ve got y’all’s back 100 percent’ — that’s a testament to what type of person he is, how he truly feels about equality for all, and the efforts he’s made with the RISE program. It’s great to have the owner of the Dolphins have that perspective.
An NFL owner having this approach to the protest is good considering the patriotic and Trump mine field that it is. He also didn’t say it was a “distraction” too.
Dolphins are okay at the QB and backup QB position, so Kap isn’t really needed there. However, IF they were looking for a qb who knows if they would bring Kap in especially after his comments about Fidel Castro. That would be a hard sell in Miami.
Nice to know, at least ONE owner was fine with the protest. Maybe we’ll find out a few more gave their players the nod to kneel.
Ross is involved with improving race relation and driving social progress using the power of sports with his RISE organization.
Good for him and good for the Dolphins players to know nothing will go against them for protesting.
