Lynne Roberts Gets Brutal With Press On Cameron Brink’s Benching

Lynne Roberts doesn’t mince her words. She sure wasn’t having anything slip today.

The Los Angeles Sparks’ season opener was as bad as it gets: guard Kelsey Plum and company fell 105-78 to the Las Vegas Aces, the team she started her career with. Plum, on the other hand, had a very strong individual performance, scoring 27 points on 10-for-18 shooting, including 4-for-8 from the field.

Given that Plum is an undersized guard, it is obvious that she will require assistance if the Sparks are to win, particularly in the front court. Cam Brink, a forward and center, is thought to be the ideal addition to Los Angeles and Plum, but surprisingly, Brink had a terrible time.

Brink made three turnovers, accumulated three fouls, and failed to score a single point in just 12 minutes of play. Lynee Roberts, the head coach of the Sparks, was very direct about why Brink isn’t playing more after the game.

Roberts stated:

“I mean, we need Cam to produce. We need Cam to bring that defensive energy,”. “We have so much confidence and belief in her. She’s got to get out on the floor with some confidence and do what she’s capable of doing. But we’re going to need her.”

“Part of the beginning of Season 2 is figuring out rotations and chemistry and all the things”. “We looked like we just didn’t have a lot of floor chemistry out there. Vegas did. They’ve also played together for years, right? And it’s not an excuse, but it’s just a reality.”

“So we’re going to need Cam. She’s going to be a big part of our success, have every bit of belief in her.”

Roberts is banking on Brink to live up to the expectations because she is aware that Los Angeles will need her going forward.
