Delonte West is officially making his return to the virtual basketball world.
The former NBA guard has announced that he is being added to NBA 2K27. And yes, this is a pretty big deal for fans who remember when West was running around on NBA 2K14.
That was a long time ago. Now, after more than a decade away from the game, West is back. Talk about a comeback.
West announced the news himself, revealing that NBA 2K is officially adding him to the latest edition of the popular basketball video game. Even better, he will begin receiving royalty payments starting in March 2027.
So, while gamers are busy arguing about ratings, animations and who got robbed in the overall rankings, West could soon be getting paid every time someone picks him for a virtual matchup.
NBA 2K fans love nostalgia. The game has become much more than simply playing basketball. It is basically a yearly reunion for former stars, cult favorites and players fans still remember from their childhood.
West certainly fits that category.
He played in the NBA from 2004 through 2012 and suited up for several teams. He became known for his tough style of play, perimeter shooting and ability to handle the ball.
Now, NBA 2K27 is giving fans another chance to put him on the court.
And some gamers are probably already planning their lineups.
Imagine loading into the game and seeing Delonte West available again after all these years. Somewhere, an old-school 2K player just smiled.
The timing also makes the news even more interesting because West is not simply getting his name added to the game. According to his announcement, he will also benefit financially through royalty payments.
That means every virtual jumper could potentially mean a little more money.
Suddenly, missing NBA 2K for years does not seem so bad.
