With all the turmoil that is currently going with the Tennessee Titans here is a positive story about a player who we know will be on the team next year.
Despite the 2010 regular season coming to a close, Tennessee star running back Chris Johnson’s yardage total is just getting going. That’s because each of CJ’s 1,364 rushing yards will correspond to a donation made by POWERADE to Metropolitan Nashville Public High Schools.
This past fall, Johnson teamed with POWERADE for the “Running Back to Schools” program, whereby POWERADE pledged $10 to Davidson County schools athletic programs for every rushing yard registered. That means $13,640 will go towards equipment, uniforms and facility upgrades across the 17 zoned and magnet high schools with athletic programs in the district.
“I had a little extra incentive this year to rack up the yards,” said Johnson. “I’m happy that POWERADE and I could help improve some playing conditions for these kids, and I hope to make a visit to some Nashville city schools to see how this donation is put to use.”
Johnson finished the season ranked fourth in pro football for his number of rushing yards.
