Darko Milicic May Leave Celtics To Return To Europe And Sick Mother

Celtics big man will forever  be the man who was drafted one spot ahead of Carmelo Anthony in the 2003 NBA Draft.

The only thing Milicic has to show for it close to a decade later, is the money and the infamy.

Milicic signed with the Celtics in the off-season, with hopes of making some noise.

Unfortunately he has made little noise, and according to Adrian Wojnarowski, may bolt to Celtics to return to Europe to be with his ailing mother.

Milicic, the No. 2 overall pick in the famed 2003 NBA Draft, didn’t travel with the Celtics to Detroit this weekend, and sources say that he’s close to deciding to leave the NBA for the season to be with his ill mother in Serbia. Boston coach Doc Rivers met with Milicic recently and told him to take time to make a decision on his family and future, sources said. Milicic had been productive in the preseason, but has fallen behindJason Collins in the Celtics’ rotation.
