On this week on 3 Pieces and a biscuit we talk about The “God”, Rodney Harrison, The old and new Lions, Vick and the Wildcat & the Green Goblins.
The Leg- The Return of “God”
A lot of people dislike Brett Favre and a lot of people are bath water slurpers for Brett Favre, but this was a “grown man throw” right here.
As I said when I posted the video on Sunday this reminds us why we liked Favre in the first place. The “gunslinger” who you never count out into every bullet had been shot.
This reminded me when I was a very young Bona Fide Sports Expert and Brett was a very young QB and he launched a rocket to beat the Lions to Sterling Sharpe (not Shannon).
Of course now he will be unbearable to deal with for the rest of the year as he looks down on the media, but we will cross that bridge when we get to it.
The Thigh- Will the Real Rodney Harrison please stand up?
First in my opinion he lied about his “fake” Rodney Harrison Twitter when he was exposed by Jets Kerry Rhodes. This week he calls Terrell Owens a clown for not engaging the Buffalo media after no catching a pass for the first time in his career.
Here is the problem I have with Harrison. If you watched the T.O. post game press conference it didn’t take a rocket scientist to see they were trying to bait him into saying something controversial. T.O. handle it is well as he could, did he need to wear the shades no, but did Brett Favre need to wear that 20 years hat to his press conferences no, so to me that isn’t a big deal.
Harrison has way too high opinion of himself and he has allowed his personal feelings to cloud his judgment in regards to giving unbiased opinions.
It is the “Skip Bayless” school of journalism. If I talk loud enough and say enough inflammatory comments based off nothing you can become a huge media star.
Whereas that may work for a journalist, it doesn’t fly for an ex-athlete just ask “MeShawn” Johnson. No one is going to forget that Rodney Harrison was a steroid induced cheap shot artist just because he has more make up on than Kim Kardashian on the NBC set.
He is just a bully. No different that Nelsen from The Simpsons or Biff from Back to the Future and I would tell that to his face, but of course he doesn’t want it with me.
The Wing- the Lions wins and The Rams well…
So everyone in the D toasted a “40 Oz” to their first victory since Bush was destroying the economy. Good news for the Lions they have a stud Wide Receiver, a good running back and a rookie Quarterback that if they are right about will be the face of franchise for many years. Those are positives, so while they are a long way away from being a contender at least there is hope.
Then you have the Rams who have lost 30 of their last 35 and 13 in a row. How bad is it for the Rams? They will have to start Kyle “Hori” Boller next week. Safe to say they are the new Lions.
The Biscuit- Vick & the Wildcat
Vick and the wildcat= Vick and the Dog Pound. Just something that shouldn’t be put together. I personally like to apologize to the readers, because I should have been smart enough to have seen this coming. Let me explain.
Michael Vick is a running quarterback. What made him effective as a running quarterback, was the majority time he ran it was during a passing play. On a passing play for the first four to five seconds the defense has set responsibilities (covering receivers, running backs, zones, rushing the passer and etc). Once those four to five seconds are up and Vick would take off it was “chaos” and during that “chaos” is when Vick athletic ability would shine.
The “Wildcat” is a running formation that every once and awhile drops in a pass, but it is primarily a running formation. It is the reason that running backs and return man run the “Wildcat” because they are use to running with the ball between the tackles. That is when it is most successful.
Michael Vick isn’t a running back; he is a quarterback who can run. When you bring him in and the defense can key on the running play it is makes the whole formation ineffective.
Personally I think it would be better for Vick’s development to just keep him off the field into he is mentally ready to run the entire offense as a quarterback because until then you are just wasting his time and upsetting the flow of the offense.
The Drink= The Seattle Green Goblins
I am a big Spiderman man, so while I was adjusting my set to the glow of the Seahawks jerseys it came to mind that they looked like they were henchmen for the Green Goblin. You make the call.
