Report: Knicks Turn Down Trade Offer for Carmelo Anthony

Going all the way back to the Summer everyone knew that Carmelo Anthony preferred choice was the New York Knicks. Not the Nets, Lakers, Mavs, Clippers, Rockets and etc.

My contention was always for Carmelo similar to Lebron to just wait it out and become a free agent, then he can go wherever he wants.

Because of the CBA situation he would prefer to extend his contract as oppose to signing a new one, but it comes down to what is more important going to a team with all of the pieces in place or some extra millions.

The Knicks have decided to play chicken with the Nuggets and have refused their latest trade offer.

The Nuggets, according to a source, are asking for three starters – including Danilo Gallinari and Raymond Felton – plus Eddy Curry’s expiring contract and at least one first-round pick. In that proposed deal, Anthony and veteran point guard Chauncey Billups would be coming to the Knicks.

It is believed that Walsh and Mike D’Antoni feel the team would be giving up too much. Garden chairman James Dolan has had direct involvement in the negotiations and may ultimately overrule his basketball staff.

My feeling is that the Knicks are not a contending team at this moment. If they want to guarantee that Carmelo is a Knick they should make the trade.

Who knows what the future may hold.

One thing we know is these stars are fickle and can change their mind at any time, don’t blow it Knicks.
