When Lamar Odom left the Mavericks a lot of rumors as to why surfaced.
We debunked the one about Khloe being sicked and confirmed the one about his father being ill, but it appears to there is more to the story.
The Mavs said that Odom would return to the team after the All-Star break, now they are saying they don’t know when Odom will return.
Lamar Odom did not report back to the Dallas Mavericks on Monday and coach Rick Carlisle did not give a timetable for the forward’s return.
Odom left the team last Wednesday to attend to his ill father in Los Angeles, a source confirmed. Odom missed the Mavs’ loss to his former team, the Lakers, and apparently won’t be in uniform when Dallas resumes the regular season at home Tuesday night against the New Jersey Nets.
“Lamar is not here today,” Carlisle said Monday. “He is still dealing with a family matter and the hope is he’ll join us soon, and we’ll update you when there’s an update.”
The only problem with this was Odom’s father was on TMZ saying he was fine and just had a stomach virus, so what is really going on?
I am only speculating, but Odom hasn’t been happy since he was traded from the Lakers to the Mavericks, so it is quite possible he is homesick.
I know that sounds odd for a professional athlete, but Odom is an unique person and I wouldn’t be shocked if he just shuts it down for the rest of the season or has to be talked back into rejoining the team.
Whatever the problem we hope he gets it together soon.
