And so the war continues…
The New York Daily News has reported a bombshell revelation in the ongoing Arod vs the Yankees saga. A source close to the situation had let it be known that Arod and his group of advisers are so worried that MLB will hand down a lengthy suspension on Arod for his Biogenesis ties that they have sped up the timetable for his return from injury.
The sources state that once Arod is playing in rehab games he could then claim he is physically unable to perform due to the hip injury he’s recovering from. He could then ‘retire’ from the game and still collect his whole salary, $114 million over the next 5 years.
The Daily News reports:
“It’s all about him getting his money and not losing it to suspension…He knows he’s never going to the Hall of Fame. All that’s left for him is to make sure he gets his money — all of it.”
One way to do that is for Rodriguez to return to game action, find he can no longer perform up to his standards, then retire before he’s hit with a suspension without pay. A player who retires because he is physically unable to perform, even if he’s later suspended, would still get the full amount of his contract.”Sources told the Daily News they believe MLB will try to suspend Rodriguez, no matter his status. If he is given a lifetime ban, he would not be able to re-enter the game in any capacity.
“It’s not going to have any effect on what or when MLB does something,” said a baseball source.
The Yankees currently are paying Arod $28 million in salary for this year, and as reported previously they could collect insurance off of it if Arod is deemed unhealthy.
After Arod tweeted he had been cleared to play the usually mum GM Brian Cashman wasted no time trying to put the genie back into the bottle, which came off very suspiciously.
The point of the matter, be these reports true is that Arod has nothing left to play for but getting the money he’s entitled to. He’ll never be the hero of the sport like Jeter or the class act through the years like Rivera, so he’s literally just trying to get his money and go.
This is still the beginning stages for what’s looking like will be an ugly long ordeal up ahead.
told em gimme $50 million or imma quit…
