It appears Jeff Fisher has no interest reuniting with his star running back from Tennessee.
Despite reports that the Fisher and the Rams might have interest in CJ2k, the St. Louis Post Dispatch writes that a reunion between Johnson and Fisher doesn’t seem likely.
after Johnson’s release Friday by the Titans, a reunion with Fisher doesn’t seem likely in St. Louis. Those familiar with the situation say it’s not impossible, but there doesn’t seem to be much if any interest in Johnson at Rams Park.
Plenty of Titans have followed Fisher from Nashville to St. Louis, a group that includes Cortland Finnegan, William Hayes, Jared Cook and Will Witherspoon. But the Rams like what they have at running back, specifically Zac Stacy, who fell just short of 1,000 yards rushing as a rookie in 2013.
Johnson is closing in on the 30-year-old mark, while Zac Stacy is productive and cheap. St. Louis will only have to pay Stacy a $495,000 base salary in 2014 (and $585,000 in 2015 and $675,000 in 2016).
