Kirk Cousins looked great in his first start-running Jay Gruden’s offense for the Redskins. Cousins was efficient connecting on his first 12 passes and ending the afternoon 22 of 33 for 250 yards and two touchdowns.
Regardless of being the Jaguars or not, Cousins seemed to prove the people who said he fit Gruden’s system better than RG3 right.
Back in 2011 Jay Gruden had a lot of say in the Bengals choosing Andy Dalton over Colin Kaepernick because the former TCU stars talents fit Gruden’s system better.
Now, as head coach of the Redskins, Gruden has another guy who fits his system. Cousins believe it’s match made in heaven, and believes his skill set is similar to Dalton’s as well.
“I was thrilled to hear that Jay was hired and that Sean McVay was gonna be the offensive coordinator,” the third-year quarterback said, via NFL.com. “I felt like, all things considered, it was probably the best possible scenario, selfishly, for me, to have a coach who has proven success with a guy in Andy Dalton who is, I would say, a similar player to me. The system didn’t have a whole lot of turnover from the previous system, so we were able to keep things the same.”
We will try not to overreact too much, considering Cousin’s bombed the Jaguars.
