Things have turned for the worse regarding Giants tight end Daniel Fells.
Fells, who came down with a MRSA infection last weekend, has had five surgeries on his foot over the past few days, according to the NFL Network, and is in danger of losing his foot.
Fells missed last Sunday’s game against the Bills and was placed on season-ending injured reserve, was moved from an intensive care unit to a private room over the weekend so he could receive the full attention of one nurse.
More surgeries are ahead, according to the NFL Network, as doctors try to fight off the infection, and the report said doctors were “fighting to save his foot” which is “at risk given the nature of the infection.”
The concern is that the infection has penetrated the bone and could travel through the bloodstream.
The Giants had their entire practice facility scrubbed on Tuesday after briefing players on the condition Wednesday.
