Last week, the Miami HEAT mysteriously reported the shining bench player Gerald Green had been hospitalized for an illness. As details emerge from the event, it appears that there may be more going on than what is being disclosed from the Heat’s camp. Various details are emerging from several media outlets, and this is what is known and alleged thus far.
In a 911 call obtained by TMZ, the person calling said that Green was bleeding and had passed out in the valet area outside the building.
It was also reported by TMZ that multiple witnesses said Green was acting strangely and yelling loudly in the condo’s lobby and that it took several people to restrain him in order to put him on a stretcher and into an ambulance.
CBS4 news partner The Miami Herald reported that Miami police said Green was not arrested and that Miami-Dade Fire Rescue asked for assistance due to a “combative patient” at the condo’s address.
At the Raptors vs HEAT game, both before and after the game, the team made it very clear to all media outlets (myself included) that we weren’t allowed to ask any questions about the status of Gerald Green’s health. All they would say is that nothing had changed, and they had nothing new to report.
“He’s healthy, he’s safe, I mentioned that the other day,” Spoelstra said when asked if he’s personally seen or spoken to Green. “I speak with him daily. There’s no other update.”
Green’s status remains a complete mystery, and the HEAT absolutely refuse to let anyone outside the organization know.
