Ever since the Philadelphia 76ers selected Jahlil Okafor with the third overall pick, the former Duke Blue Devil has been in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.
First things first, the 76ers are 0-17 and with Okafor fresh off a National Championship, losing is something he isn’t accustom to at all, which may has been playing a major role in Okafor’s off the court issues.
Over the past week, we’ve learned about Okafor being pulled over for surpassing 100 miles per hour, we saw him knock out a heckler and we learned about him being held at gunpoint after trying to punch someone in the car.
With all of this coming out at once, Okafor took to Twitter to speak to his fans.
I hold myself to a higher standard than anyone else ever could and I'm not proud of some of my decisions over the last few months.

I own my choices both personally and now publicly. At this point I am cooperating and respecting the process I have to go through.

Going forward I don't want to be a distraction for my team and am grateful for the support and guidance those close to me are giving.

I am 100% focused on my responsibility to the League, my teammates and fans.

Okafor is a bright guy, so hopefully this is the beginning of his turnaround.
