As I have to tried to explain to anyone who cared to listen, the story isn’t about this happened 20 years ago, the story is would another athlete be as protected as Peyton Manning has been?
I don’t think so and even now his protectors are trying their best to ignore the mounting evidence against him.
I am not saying Manning should be arrested or anything, I just hope this open your eyes to the fact your heroes are just regular people who can be mean and nasty to people don’t like.
Naughright called into a Knoxville sexual assault crisis hotline less than three hours after the incident took place. The event was categorized as a sexual assault/abuse matter. Records also show that Naughright said she had reported the incident to her boss.
The worker who responded to the call took down several notes on record and wrote down a handful of quotes from Naughright. Some of the quotes included were “I can’t believe this” and “I told my boss tonight.”
But here are two specific quotes in the document that will stand out (as shared by ESPN’s Outside the Lines):
“Sense there will be a cover-up” and “head coach letting them get away with everything.”
Naughtright also accused Manning of academic fraud.
Manning’s lawyers were able to get mentions of the ’94 incident redacted from all legal documents. However, Hobson notes that there is one passage that makes reference to potential Manning academic fraud that escaped redaction.
This Q&A comes from a deposition by Naughright’s lawyer of Tennessee athletic director Doug Dickey:
Q: “Do you recall it ever being reported by Carmen Tegano, or anyone else, that Dr. Naughright had spoken to Carmen Tegano about the possibility of Peyton Manning having committed academic fraud in that course?”
A: “No.”
From a common sense perspective you can see why Peyton may have had a strong dislike for this Ms. Naughtright.
