Earlier this week, we reported that Chili’s Bar & Grill was apologizing after a manager at one of their Texas restaurants took a free Veteran’s Day meal from veteran Ernest Walker.
Walker says that at a Trump supporter’s urging, the manager walked over to him and took his free meal. The manager did not believe that he was a veteran despite Walker providing discharge papers and military identification. An elderly man wearing a Trump sticker told the manager that Walker was not a “real soldier” because he was wearing his hat indoors.
Chili’s President, Kelli Valade said that the manager has been “removed” and placed on administrative leave. She has personally apologized for the manager’s actions and thanked Walker for his service. Walker’s attorney, Lee Merritt is working on the legal aspects of the incident with Chili’s execs but says that his client does not want the manager to be fired permanently.
