The crazy thing about Bowden’s comments is he speaks on being a Christian before saying it is unwise for Kaepernick to protest like he did.
“I’d say, ‘when your son comes to Florida State, I’m gonna take him to church. I’m gonna take him to a white church and the next Sunday, I’m gonna take him to a black church. I just wanted them to see that no matter what their race, they were welcome in our churches here in Florida,” he recalled, adding that the parents “loved” the message.
Bowden was also asked about 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s protest of the national anthem, but he said he never had to face that type of situation during his coaching career.
Bowden said he would have pleaded with Kaepernick that the protest would be “unwise” and urge him to find another way to voice his displeasure.
“There’s too much history, too much blood has been given for that Star-Spangled Banner,” he said.
A lot of that blood came from SLAVERY, let’s not forget.
