The NFL draft is one day away and despite the obvious defensive talent sitting there, we aren’t quite sure who will be the #1 overall pick.
The Browns need a quarterback bad after passing on Carson Wentz last year via trade, but will Cleveland brass be able to calmly select Myles Garrett, and then patiently wait and hope for Mitchell Trubisky or DeShaun Watson to still be there at 12, not to mention the possibility of a trade that could just shake up the entire draft scenario, as teams jockey to grab Christian McCaffrey and Leonard Fournette among others.
Lets jump right into the BSO mock draft.
1. Cleveland Browns: Myles Garrett DE Texas A&M
The Browns need players and various positions, which means Hue Jackson and company can’t afford to reach on a quarterback who isn’t even the clear number one player on the board. Garrett amazed at the combine, with his numbers at his size. The Browns — who desperately need a pass-rusher as well, don’t want to be the Jaguars, who drafted Blaine Gabbert over J.J. Watt.
2. San Francisco 49ers: Jamal Adams S LSU
In this pass happy NFL teams love pass rushers on defense, but the greatest needs comes in the defensive secondary, where the great teams have or desire a safety that can quarterback a defense as well. Adams is that and more, John Lynch knows what a talented and versatile safety is, and Adams, the most versatile pure safety in this draft class — is not as deep as Ohio State’s Malik Hooker range wise, but he’s better against the run, more interchangeable as he can cover deep and take on a tight end, while also covering the slot.
3, Chicago Bears: Solomon Thomas DL Stanford
He’s a product of David Shaw, so you know he’s tough with a non-stop motor and ability to play all over the defensive line making Thomas a fit for the Bears.
4. Jacksonville Jaguars: Jonathan Allen DT Alabama
Tom Coughlin’s mentality is toughness, and they get no tougher than the former Crimson Tide All American. Pair him with big money free agent Calais Campbell and the Jaguars’ front becomes a wrecking crew.
5. Tennessee Titans: Marshon Lattimore CB Ohio State
Cornerback is a clear area of need after they released veteran Jason McCourty, meaning free agent Logan Ryan is the only proven corner on this roster. Lattimore is the best pure corner in this draft, as long as his health holds up (he has battled chronic hamstring issues). Lattimore is athletic and tough, and best of all, he can start immediately. 6. Cleveland Browns (Trade From Jets): Mitchell Trubisky QB North Carolina
Trubisky is the most consistent and accurate passer of this group, thus giving Hue Jackson his passer.
7. L.A. Chargers: Malik Hooker S Ohio State
Hooker, a ballhawk, is an ideal fit for the Cover 3 scheme with his ability to cover sideline to sideline.
8. Carolina Panthers: Leonard Fournette RB LSU
Fournette is regarded as one of the most talented backs in the draft, and many believe he’s the 20-carry guy that can rejuvenate Cam Newton’s career.
9. Cincinnati Bengals: Reuben Foster ILB Alabama
Cincinnati can always use an thumping inside linebacker, playing in the AFC North. Foster is the most talented linebacker in this draft.
10. Buffalo Bills: OJ Howard TE Alabama
Howard could become an immediate receiving threat for Tyrod Taylor, who is lacking reliable targets at wide receiver.
