Hip-hop fans, if you’ve been paying attention, you know Joe Budden and Lil Yachty have been engaged in somewhat of a back and forth. Yachty appeared on Complex’s Everyday Struggle and he and Budden got into it. Ultimately a lot of this is the old head (Budden) versus new generation (Yachty). Budden isn’t necessarily hating but clearly doesn’t understand Yachty and a lot of the new generation.
During the interview Yachty says he chooses to see positive and given where he has risen from, he can’t help but be “happy every day.” Budden then accuses him of being “media trained” before lecturing him on “how humans work.” Budden goes on to say:
Feelings are fickle. What that means is, they come and they go. Nobody is one thing forever. You cannot tell me … you would be lying to tell me that as a young man in this industry, in this music industry, in the music business, you are happy 24-7. That is a lie. That is bullshit. And I refuse to have somebody tell me bullshit. I want to have an honest conversation.
Budden clearly enraged is probably well intentioned but has to know yelling and screaming at someone is a great way to make sure your message is not heard. Budden could have delivered that so much better. Regardless of where you stand, old head or new generation, the internet always comes out undefeated. There are some hilarious reactions and memes on this Budden v Yachty situation. Check out some below.
