Odell Beckham Jr. is not afraid of a little (1-7) record, or a little math, or a lot of probability either. According to Odell, the Giants could:
Win eight games…
Get in the playoffs. Giants been there before — 9-7 got to the playoffs — and I think they did pretty good. So that is the goal.
Odell says that if you don’t believe in miracles, and your the type of person that needs actually proof to exercise basic logic, look no further than Kevin Garnett’s (66-16) NBA Championship roster:
You heard Kevin Garnett when he won [an NBA championship]: ‘Anything is possible
It’s not impossible to win eight games. It wasn’t impossible to lose seven. So anything can happen. Honestly. But the main focus is just this one game. Treat this game like it’s your last game of the season.
Some people might argue that this Celtics team traded for Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, and paired them with Paul Pierce, in order to create the NBA’s first super team; while the Giants, on the other hand, would currently be getting the #1 Overall Pick in the NFL draft if the season ended right now. So, their situations are slightly different.
For now, we should just let Odell live a little. The Giants are +3.5 dogs against the 49ers Monday Night. The public is going to be all over Nick Mullens because he just went off last week against the Raiders, who actually might have quit their season even before Odell’s Giants did.
Either way, there aren’t too many “Jeremy Linn like stories” in the NFL, as there is in the NBA or MLB. My money says that the Giants will bring Mullens back to his undrafted-reality on Monday Night: Giants +3.5 is the move.
