Does anyone take the New York Giants seriously at this point?
The Giants, who are 8-24 in their last two seasons, have somehow managed to get worse.
It’s been a dreadful off season for G-Men as they have traded away superstar WR Odell Beckham, Jr., defensive starter Olivier Vernon, and let safety Landon Collins walk to Washington for nothing.
Despite all of that, Giants GM Dave Gettleman still thinks the team can win with really only having RB Saquon Barkley to speak of.
Gettleman, who made his first public comments since trading OBJ to the Browns said of the trade,
“As I said publicly twice, we didn’t sign him to trade him, but obviously things changed. Frankly what changed is another team made an offer we couldn’t refuse.”
And with respect to if the Giants can win with Eli Manning, 38, (who’s owed $17 million this season), Gettleman said,
“…This narrative that Eli is overpaid and can’t play is a crock. I’m telling you. So at the end of the day you have to say Gettleman is out of his mind or he knows what he’s talking about when he evaluates players. That is really what it is. That is really where it’s at. And I’m OK if you disagree with me. That’s fine.”
Clearly, Gettleman either knows something we don’t or he really is out of his mind.
On paper the Giants look bad after their roster overhaul.
Furthermore, if they aren’t able to draft Dwayne Haskins out of The Ohio State University, things could get even worse for the Giants future.
Naturally, Giants fans were not happy about Gettleman’s proclamation and lit him up on social media.
