There was another mass shooting today in El Paso where there were between 15-20 deaths and at least 22 injured. Had it not been for an African American man named Glen Oakley, it could have been more dead or injured.
Mr. Oakley was shopping in the El Paso shopping complex when he was told there was a shooter but since he was told by a kid he didn’t believe him.
Moments later, Mr. Oakley heard gunshots and started hiding at first then started running shortly after. On his way out, he sees a bunch of kids without their parents panicking so he decides to pick up as many as he can and get them out.
Not many people would stop to help people they don’t know but Mr. Oakley put his life at risk to be a hero.
Mr. Oakley does say on his way out, cops saw his gun that he’s registered to carry, and stopped him thinking he was the shooter. Luckily they didn’t shoot first before he could explain.
Mr. Oakley is a hero and should be recognized.
