Fan is short for FANATIC.
If you don’t know what Fanatic means, here is the definition.
A person filled with excessive and single-minded zeal, especially for an extreme religious, sports, or political cause.
If you wonder why otherwise normal people will fight in the stands over a game, this is why. People have a lot of pent-up anger about various things, and sports let them release that anger but sometimes in nonproductive ways. To shoot someone, though, one would have to imagine that either the person was already crazy and violent or there was some beef that went well beyond sports.
A sporting event should never lead to death.
An argument over the University of Alabama football team’s loss to Texas A&M led to a deadly shooting at an Alabama home, police said.
Two men started fighting over which team was better at a gathering in the Birmingham suburb Bessemer when the game was in its final minutes Saturday night, Lt. Christian Clemons told news outlets. The homeowner asked the men to leave, and shots were fired outside.
Officers found Kealand Amad Pickens, who had been shot several times in the torso, Clemons said. The 27-year-old was taken to a hospital, where he died around 3:20 a.m. Sunday.
The shooter is still at large, but they know who he is, so hopefully, he will be in custody soon because what if he gets upset over the Monday Night Football game?
If you missed the game, Alabama lost on a last-second field goal. Bama only dropped to #5 in the rankings, so they can still easily make the playoffs, so there was really no reason for the fans to be upset. There are way too many guns in this country and far too many unnecessary shootings that could be avoided if we had better gun control.
RIP to Pickens.
