Being a rapper shouldn’t be a dangerous job.
It shouldn’t be like going into the army, but alas, if you are a rapper these days, especially one who hasn’t distanced yourself from the street, your life will always be in danger. Snootie Wild is just the latest to be shot, and sadly, he couldn’t survive his injuries.
A man was found shot in the neck next to an SUV in a ditch early Friday morning along England Street near Alice Street, police say.
Police say they arrived at the scene around 2 a.m. after responding to their Shotspotter Program, which detects gunshots around Houston. Once they were on their way, calls began rolling in, reporting shots fired.
According to investigators, a neighbor caught the entire incident on camera.
“It looks like he backed in there (the ditch) accidentally. Then the other vehicle pulled up, and folks got out of the car. They were talking for a little bit, and then all of a sudden, gunfire went off. Only one shot, actually,” said officer R. Willkens.
Police surrounded the neighborhood searching for a man and woman they believe to be the suspects. Police say there is a high possibility they are still in the area.
The doctors had given Snootie a 50/50 chance to live, but sadly he didn’t make it.
Snootie Wild died after being shot in Houston Friday, the second Memphis rapper to be gunned down in recent months.
The “Yayo” artist’s death was confirmed on his verified Instagram page Saturday evening.
“Gone in body, but your NAME & LEGACY will live forever! #TeamYayo4Life,” the post read.
Tributes from hip hop artists like Sonny Digital and Three 6 Mafia’s DJ Paul poured in on social media for the Yo Gotti protégé.
No word on the motive and what led to Snootie being shot.
