WWE star Trish Stratus has hopped on Instagram and dropped a photo showing off her bruises following her cage fight with Becky Lynch. She hashtagged the photo as;
#ThankYouBecky
Trish Stratus is probably thanking Becky Lynch for the wonderful cage match and bruises.
There’s a handful of superstars who have remained active since making their pro wrestling debut during the “Attitude Era” and the “Ruthless Aggression Era” that followed. While pro wrestling fans may delight in seeing the likes of John Cena, The Hardy Boyz, and Randy Orton grace the ring, from time to time, Trish Stratus might be the one among them all to have put a blemish on Father Time’s undefeated mark. At 47, she’s one year older than John Cena and three years older than Randy Orton. An argument can be made that the only pro wrestler who can still perform at her level while also pushing 50 is the great Rey Mysterio (48).
Unlike her Hall of Fame counterparts in the men’s division, Trish recently executed an in-ring performance so impressive that many pundits have suggested her Steel Cage match against Becky Lynch at ‘Payback’ should have earned the WWE divas a seldomly awarded “five-star rating” along with consideration for the “Match of the Year.” The compelling storyline between Trish Stratus and Becky Lynch culminated in the grueling battle where the pair of former WWE Women’s Champions put on a wrestling clinic. During the match, Becky Lynch punished the seven-time WWE Women’s Champion by rubbing her face into the steel cage before going to work on her back with multiple power bombs, a super duper flex from the top of the infrastructure, and her signature “Man Handle Slam.” Although She’s over ten years older than Becky Lynch, the wily veteran bounced back with an onslaught of her own, including a “Bulldog” off the ropes and a second “Bulldog” from the top of the ropes. The former WWE Hardcore Champ even turned back the clock with a “hurricanrana” and her signature “matrix” move. In the end, Trish was defeated by Lynch. But, after she peeled herself off the mat, the celebrated heel received an ovation from the live crowd at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Following the riveting steel cage match, Trish took to social media and posted a photo of her bruised and battered body along with the lump that she sustained on her forehead with the caption “#ThankYouBecky.” The gesture was a nod of respect and a play of her slogan, “Thank you, Trish.” The phrase went viral immediately following the “WWE Payback.”
It isn’t easy being a WWE star and the bruises on Trish Stratus are an indication of how things went down between her and Becky Lynch during the cage match.
