Reports say Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Zay Jones has been arrested on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge. Zay was arrested and booked into the Duval County Jail at 6:03 p.m. on Monday night.
Zay Jones will appear in court on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m.
The Post reports that;
Jones, 28, was charged with domestic battery causing bodily harm, which is a first-degree misdemeanor.
“We are aware of the situation and are in the midst of gathering information. We will have no further comment at this time,” the Jaguars said in a statement.
In Florida, a first-degree misdemeanor can land a person in jail for 180 days and lead to a fine of up to $1,000, according to the Associated Press.
An offender can also be punished by having to pay court costs, restitution, and sentenced to probation, treatment and/or community service.
This isn’t good news for the Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver as he hasn’t played in six of the Jaguars’ last seven games. Struggling in the NFL and then getting booked on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge is a whole lot to deal with.
I hope he comes out of it and focus on his NFL career.
