Four-time NBA champion Draymond Green is set to make a return to the Golden State Warriors after receiving approval from the NBA for his reinstatement. The league’s decision comes after Green served a 12-game suspension following an on-court altercation with Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic in mid-December.
Green’s commitment to addressing his recent conduct was evident as he engaged in meetings with a counselor and participated in joint sessions with representatives from the NBA, the Warriors, and the National Basketball Players Association. These efforts, aimed at conforming to the expected standards of NBA players, were acknowledged by the league in a statement.
Virtual Meetings Key to Draymond Green’s Reinstatement Progress
Throughout his suspension, Green, represented by Klutch Sports founder Rich Paul, actively attended virtual meetings with team officials, NBA representatives, and player union representatives. These sessions were crucial in tracking Green’s progress toward meeting the specified league and team conditions required for his reinstatement.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr expressed support for Green during the suspension, emphasizing the need for personal growth beyond on-court behavior. Kerr stated that Green’s actions were not just about on-court outbursts but a broader reflection of his life. Despite the challenges, Kerr affirmed his belief in Green, highlighting their decades-long relationship and the loyalty he holds for the player.
